Terrain Awareness and Warning System for Helicopters

TTA-12H

The system is intended for providing the flight crew with information enabling potential danger of collision with the ground (terrain or man-made obstacles) to be identified in time, and effective measures to be taken to prevent the dangerous consequences of collisions.

The flight safety is ensured owing to the operation of two independent mode groups. The first group is based on the use of information from GPS/GLONASS receiver and built-in database and produces an alert 25-80 seconds before the terrain/obstacle element. The second group of modes uses analysis of data from radio altimeter, pressure altimeter, true speed, bank, heading and pitch sensors, landing system, for alerting the crew when limitations specified in the Flight Manual are exceeded.
