TTA-12H (TAWS) system type approval certificate

On December 10th, 2008 TRANSAS has received type approval certificate for helicopter terrain awareness warning system. The certificate was issued by Aviation Register of Interstate Aviation Committee.

The TTA-12H system is intended to supply the crew with sufficient information and warning to detect timely the potential danger of ground collision (with underlying surface or other obstacle), and allows undertaking effective actions to prevent it.

Flight safety is ensured by two independent mode groups. The first group uses data from GLONASS/GPS satellite receiver and embedded database. It provides warning 25-80 sec before terrain/hazard obstacle. The second one provides crew warning if flight manual limitations are violated. This group receives data from radio altimeter, barometric altimeter, true air speed, banking, heading, tangage sensors and ILS.

The TTA-12H system ensures flight safety from takeoff to landing and doesn’t require crew actions for flight stage switching, including takeoff and landing on unprepared landing pad. System sensitivity could be decreased by switching it to low-level flight mode for undesirable warning elimination when special work is accomplished close to the ground. In case of flight with cargo on sling its length could be set to provide in-time warning about dangerous situation.
