From 14 to 19 August 2001, the Fifth International Moscow Air Show "MAKS'2001" was held on the territory of Gromov Research Institute in the town of Zhukosvky not far from Moscow. Holding up its tradition, TRANSAS took part in the exhibition and presented its avionics developments.

Along with the well established AMMS global navigation and landing system, the company showed its visitors some new developments, the following among them:

  • FMS – Flight Management System;
  • TAWS – Terrain Awareness Warning System;
  • MFD – Airborne Multi-Functional Display;
  • MAP generator – The Chart data Generation System.

The modernised Mi-8MTV/Mi-17 helicopter with TRANSAS onboard avionics set installed on it, became the key exhibit and one of the premieres at "MAKS" air show. This avionics system considerably relieves the workload on the crew both, during the flight and at the stage of its preparation, enhances the flight safety through the use of up-to-date navigation, landing and communication aids, thus improving the helicopter competitive ability on the market.

Attention of the TRANSAS stand visitor was focused on the Mi-8MTV/Mi-17 helicopter full mission simulator. Specialists from different fields of aviation and tester pilots have highly assessed the visual system, quality of the simulator mathematical model, as well as the functional capabilities provided by the new system. The new simulator generation developed by TRANSAS allows training on any level: from the initial training of young specialists to the advanced training of professional pilots.

Within the framework of the air show, an announcement was made about installation of the AMMS system on two Мi-8MTV-1С helicopters manufactured by Kazan Helicopters and Mil Helicopter Plant for the "State Transport Company" (Russia).

Participation of TRANSAS in MAKS'2001 major international air show, has confirmed the high technological level of the company's products and developments which enable it to advance on the international avionics market.
